Attention Guild Members!
This is great way for you to have a lot of fun and get involved in one of the guild activities and get those creative juices flowing. Here's how it works: Each year guild members are challenged to create a quilt based on a theme and following a set of requirements. At the November meeting, your quilt is turned in to the challenge chair(s) and is displayed anonymously with all the others. The members then vote on the quilt they like best, and three winners are announced. In reality, everyone is a winner because we all learn something new from our own quilt and everyone else's.
The 2010 challenge is "Treasure the Chesapeake." There is much
to treasure about the Bay from watermen to pleasure boaters, and from
shipping to lighthouses, etc.
So the sky's the limit.

Here are the requirements:
- You may use as many fabrics as you wish, but there must be some blue
(representing the water), green (representing plants), and brown (representing
the earth and farms), and some yellow for fun.
- At least one of the following symbols of the bay must
be included: crab(s), boat(s) – anything from a kayak to a freighter
– or lighthouse(s). The symbol may be applied in any way you like and
any size: appliqué, a novelty fabric, charm or button or any other embellishment.
(Example: you could pick a crab as large as the center block of the
quilt, or as small as a charm. It could be painted on, appliqued, a
novelty fabric or anything else you wish). Also you may use as many
symbols as you like, as long as you have at least one.
- Your quilted item may be a small quilt/wall hanging, a large quilt,
art quilt, or a miscellaneous item such as a tote bag, "animal" or another
item that you created, as long as it contains all elements of the requirements.
- Try to work from your stash and Happy Quilting!
Enjoy!
