Welcome!
The Southern Comforters Quilt Guild of Bowie, Maryland was formed in 1982. The purpose of the guild is to promote the appreciation
of the rich heritage of quilting through educational opportunites by presenting speakers, workshops and other activities related to
quilt making. Many of our activities combine our love of quilting with community service. Quilts and quilting encourages expressions
of individualism, creativity, knowledge, and enthusiasm which are shared with others. We welcome guests as we provide a gathering
place to promote fellowship with those who share a common interest. Take part in our guild and share our love of quilts and help to
promote quilting for future generations.
Meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at the Christian Community Presbyterian Church, 3120 Belair
Drive in Bowie, Maryland. We start at 7:30 pm, doors open at 7:00 pm to socialize.
Happy Quilting!!

On March 24-25, 2012 Southern Comforters hosted their 30th Annual Quilt Show at the C. Elizabeth Rieg School.
The amazing collection of quilts were made by guild members and drew many appreciative comments and votes.
We welcomed many guests to the show and we would like to express our great appreciation to all. We would also
like to say thank you for joining us in celebrating thirty years.
The raffle quilt which was created
by guild member Charlotte Kieliszek and machine quilted by guild member and longarm quilter Julia Graves
was won by Reyna who bought the ticket at the Sports & Learning Center from Margy Hill. Reyna
received her quilt at our guild meeting on March 28th. She was very thrilled to have won, and is interested
in learning how to quilt. We hope you enjoy the Irish Crossroads quilt as much as we enjoyed making it.
Congratulations!!
