Block of the Month - 2007-2008

 | Objectives |
- Learn some new techniques and have fun!
- Award free blocks, all the same pattern for (at least) 12 people
- Award free blocks, 12 different ones, to one lucky participant
| Rules |
- Block patterns will be be posted on the web site, the Yahoo Southern Comforters Group site, or available on paper at any meeting. .
- Blocks will be 12 1/2" unfinished. You should use crayon colors. If you need clarification look at a box of 8 crayons.
- Complete the block of the month and bring to the meeting for each month's designated meeting.
- At the designated meeting, each member will have one chance in the drawing for each completed block you turn in. The monthly winner will win all the blocks turned in that month. If there are more than a 25 submissions, multiple winners may be announced.
- Any member who makes more than one block will not only have more than one chance to win, but will also receive a small reward. (Note: Only one small reward will be given for extra blocks, regardless of how many additional blocks are turned in.)
- Each member may have one "bye month" and still remain eligible for the yearly drawing. A member choosing a bye must inform Charlotte Kieliszek by the monthly drawing time that she is choosing that month as a bye.
- Each member may also have one "IOU Block." If a member does not finish the block in time for the drawing, she may designate that month as an IOU Block. The member must tell Charlotte Kieliszek BEFORE the drawing time that she is claiming an IOU Block. It must then be completed and delivered to the monthly winner before the next month's drawing. On the IOU night, the member is not eligible for the monthly drawing. If the block is not delivered, the member loses eligibility for the final drawing. That month may not be changed to a bye.
- The winner's block will be kept for a 12 block drawing at the end of the year. A second set of blocks made by the The Grateful Threads Sewing Bee will also be won.
